Home of

Jazz

Tucked away in the residential neighborhood of Dix Hills, this two-story, brick and wood frame home was where John and Alice Coltrane chose to put down roots and raise their family from 1964 to 1973.
John and Alice wrote and recorded some of their most enduring works in this peaceful suburban setting.

John and Alice Coltrane are emblems of excellence and artistic achievement.

Our mission at The John & Alice Coltrane Home is to further their legacy.

Education

Our events and workshop series are devoted to encouraging improvisation, creativity, and participation. They are designed to be inclusive, inspiring, and usually free of charge. In honor of Alice Coltrane, we offer programming/workshops for young women and girls to foster improvisation and composition.

We are currently partner with several Long Island libraries. With the workshops, librarians put together a selection of books on John and Alice Coltrane, jazz, African American history, and the creative process to encourage further learning. We appreciate this generous partnership.
